As a former MLB player, I’ve had the pleasure to work with Thomas Donovan on hitting instruction that began in November 2020.  What I like to see is not only the physical attributes but the mental capacity and awareness as well.  Being able to take instruction and implement quickly and make adjustments when needed.  Have an unwavering work ethic and a committed passion for the game.  I believe hitting to be the most challenging aspect.  We may have to adjust from day to day, at bat to at bat or pitch to pitch. From having retained instruction and repetition of proper mechanics; one would be able to compete successfully with the action of a pitched baseball.

With over a couple dozen instructions to date Thomas has made great progress.  Very coachable and a team player that is eager to contribute wherever and whenever he can.  Respectful, hard worker on and off the field with great baseball instincts.  He will continue to mature, get stronger and improve all skills.  Thomas would be a great asset to any program.

Thomas Donovan: A versatile player who can excel at many different positions on the field. He has raw power at the plate which is showing up more consistently as he learns to cut down on swing & misses.  His improved approach to the opposite field is encouraging as well. Thomas’s athleticism and footwork will give him a strong chance to stay in the infield at the next level.

His arm has gotten stronger over the last year as well, which allows him to compete for SS and 3b spots. We are excited to watch Thomas continue to develop over the next 2 years. As his body matures and continues to get stronger, we believe balls in the gap will become homeruns allowing him to be a middle of the order guy. Thomas is also one of the hardest working players we have coached over the years and is a great teammate.

To Whom it may Concern,
I am Jim Lane, Thomas’s 12U, 13U and 14U travel baseball coach and I would love to say a few words about Thomas. He is one of the hardest workers in his craft I have ever seen or having the privilege of working with and knowing this young man. He comes from a great family that is equally committed to his success as Thomas is. Not only is he a really good baseball player but all around athlete. He is a hard worker in the classroom and the community. You will always see a smile on this kids face. I have coached for 16+ years and Thomas is one of the most coachable kids I have ever had the honor of coaching. I wish I was still coaching him. I wish nothing but future success for Thomas Donovan.

Thank You
Jim Lane
