Scouting Report – Ryan Mulligan, as he begins his senior year (class of 2017), is coming off an excellent junior year where he was named Most Valuable Player for the Randolph Varsity Baseball Division Championship Team that also played in the County Championship and State Sectional Quarterfinals. Ryan Mulligan was voted 1st Team All-New Jersey Athletic National Conference infielder and 2nd Team All-County 2nd baseman.
As lead-off hitter, Ryan was a catalyst of a 9 game Randolph winning streak, finishing with a .484 OBP, leading the team in stolen bases, walks, and 2nd in hits, runs scored and batting average. Defensively is where Ryan separates himself. His range, quick release and sure hands allowed him to get to balls and turn double plays when needed most. His baseball IQ and “grittiness” are the intangibles that bring Ryan to another level on the field and have made him a respected leader on his teams.
Ryan is a multi-sport athlete who along with baseball will be a 4 year player in football as a cornerback. Football has helped Ryan in baseball tremendously, both at the plate with his physical stature in strength/ power, and defensively with his side to side quickness and agility.
Off the field, academically, Ryan excels and will be a strong addition to any program. With a 4.02 weighted GPA, he constantly challenges himself with Honors and AP classes. Ryan is on the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and has been on the honor roll in every semester of high school; ACT : 31 SAT : 1350 GPA : 4.02
In addition to managing a challenging school workload and two very demanding sports that truly have both become all year around commitments, Ryan also proactively maintains a job (about 15 hours a week) and importantly volunteers his time to numerous volunteer activities such as: Inter faith furnishings volunteer – delivering donated furniture to the needy, Bridges (meals for the needy) Challenger Baseball games program – bringing the great game to those less fortunate.
