Jayden Pennington is currently a rising, young senior (2021) at Northgate HS in Newnan, Georgia. Due to Covid reasons, he has dedicated the majority of 2020 to improving his speed and strength, as well as fine tuning his swing. He has been in the gym with trainers and on the field with coaches every week for the past 8 months. Jayden has put on a solid 15lbs of muscle due to his dedication. A classic late bloomer in every sense of the word, he has yet to reach his full potential and exhibits an extremely high ceiling. Jayden has a great corner outfielders physique. He now runs a sub-7 60 yard dash (6.85), has a consistent throwing velo from the outfield in the mid to high 80’s (87 mph), and has an exit velo off the bat that has topped out at (89 mph).
During the past two summers, Jayden has consistently hit for a high average, led his team in both doubles, walks, and RBI’s, and also led the team in assists from the outfield.
Jayden hits comfortably anywhere in the lineup, as he has both speed and power. He has an outstanding eye and plate discipline. He excels defensively, showing aggressive routes to the ball, good footwork and reaction off the bat. He can play any position in the outfield; however he excels in RF due to his above average, strong and accurate arm.
Jayden Pennington is a tireless worker who is always striving to improve his “baseball measurable” and knowledge of the game. His strong work ethic has earned him respect from his peers and trainers. He is recognized by coaches as a leader on the field and in the classroom.
His father was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 35th round of the 1986 draft. He went on to play 2 years of junior college at Central Florida in Ocala, FL. He played 1 year at D1 UAB, and then finished his senior year at West Georgia College, where he was voted All-Gulf South Conference (1990) and awarded honorable mention All-American for D2 as a Designated Hitter.
