Scouting Report  Ryan Gaines, Dunwoody High School Wildcats – QB/ WR/ DB/ P/K, 6’ 1”, 185lbs., DOB 9/6/94, Class of 2013; As a three year letterman beginning with his freshman year, Ryan has played quarterback, wide receiver, and  defensive back. He has been the team’s punter since his freshman year.  Ryan’s freshman year he ended the season as the starting quarterback leading the Wildcats to a first round playoff victory.  He missed most of his sophomore season with a broken collar bone.  As a junior, he played multiple positions including quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back. He played on all special teams including being the punt returner.  Ryan is a multi-talented athlete who will do what is asked of him to help the team.  His understanding of the game is unique in someone at the high school level and he is especially adept at reading defenses.   After the 2011 season he was voted Mr. Versatility, an award recognizing his ability as an athlete and football player.  After playing multiple positions in 2011, he is expected to play quarterback his senior season and will likely see action at other positions including defensive safety.

In addition to football, Ryan has two baseball letters and has lettered in diving.  He enjoys golf and carries an 11 handicap.  Ryan has a strong work effort on and the off the field. He has two part time jobs including one as an assistant dive coach. He excels academically and maintains a 3.5 GPA. [Photo: Courtesy John P. Sports]
